Give pit bulls a chance says animal-rescue advocate | Need to Know#7

BSL is BS and people need to be educated about it. There are more documented cases each year of bites by Golden Retreivers than there is by pitbulls, but the media doesn't sensationalize it like the do for pitties or rotties or presa canarios Give pit bulls a chance says animal-rescue advocate Need to Know#7

Happy New Year my furry friends

Wishing all my furry, four legged, doggie friends a Happy New Year. May you always have a warm blanket or warm lap to rest on, may you always have toys and someone to play with you, may you always have a full bowl of food and water, may you have balls and squirrels to chase and may you always have loving hands to pet and stroke you. To your 2 legged friends, may they always have the time, the heart and the means to provide you with a good life and may they realize and appreciate the joy, the devotion and the unconditional love that only you can give them.

Who wants to go for a ride?!!

Who wants to go for a ride? How many times have you called that out? So he comes running from wherever he was or whatever he was doing because this is one of his favorite things to do. Tail wagging, dancing back and forth between the closet where his leash is and the front door. Hurrying you up and wondering why you can never find your keys and why did you call him if you weren't ready. For just a minute he worries that it's going to be a trip to that place he hates so much, but then he sees you take a frisbee and knows that this time it's for fun. So here we go, he jumps into the car and prances back and forth between both windows, pokes his head between the two front seats and says let's go already. You open the back windows for him and off you go. He sticks his nose out the windows trying to take in all the scents. You think, oh he loves the wind in his face and open the window so he can stick his whole head out. How cute he looks, lips flapping, tongue hanging out, ears blowing back in the wind, others see him and think the same. Happy Happy Doggy! And then the unpredictable, unthinkable happens. The car in front of you kicks up some debris from the road and it hits happy happy doggy right in the eye. He gives out a little yelp, comes back into the car and can't stop blinking, swiping at his eye with his paw. Now the fun ride turns out afterall to be a ride to that place he hates. Luckily the vet says there's no permanent damage to the eye, but he'll need eyedrops and antibiotics for a few weeks. You take him home and tell him you're sorry and that as soon as his eye is better you'll take him for a ride again. Only next time he has to wear a special doggy seat belt and the windows can only be open a little bit for some breeze. He's disappointed but he knows that what you're doing is for his safety. He loves you unconditionally, so no matter what, he's Happy Happy Doggy as long as he's with you.

Memorial Day

Take the time to honor those who have served and those who are serving. These selfless men and women deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. We as Americans take so many things for granted but without the dedicated men and women of our Military we wouldn't have many of those things. I salute our Armed Forces and their families for the sacrifices they make in their lives so that we may have a better one. A special salute to my dad and my father-in-law who are no longer with us, but fought so courageously in WWII, we will never forget.
